    Output of the Project

Coronavirus, pandemic COVID - 19 (Project Work, Class - X)

What is a coronavirus and why are people so worried about it?

COVID-19 (Coronavirus Infectious Disease 2019) is a disease caused by a type of virus called coronavirus. Coronavirus can be seen in the body of something like thorns. Many of them look like crowns. So the name of this virus comes from the Latin synonym of corona.

Many diseases of the human body, such as polio, measles, influenza, common cold, etc. are caused by viruses. There are vaccines for some diseases. Some of the notes we all have to take as a child. Again some vaccines, such as the influenza vaccine we can take at an older age if we want. But it has to take every year. When the virus enters our body after taking this vaccine, our body can recognize it and prevent it.

When an unknown virus enters in our body there causes many problems to our health. In many researches these viruses are commonly found in pigs, birds, bats or other animals. However, when a new disease appears in a human body and mainly caused by these animals, a new epidemic breaks out - such as this COVID-19. Most of the Scientists believe that the COVID-19 virus came from bats.

There are several reasons why people are worried about COVID-19. First, it is a respiratory disease that can easily spread from one person to another. Second, the death toll is serious in ratio with the world population. Thirdly, our body does not have any natural immunity to fight against this disease. Therefore we should be aware of our health as no vaccine or medicine is yet to be invented for this disease.

What are the symptoms of COVID-19? How does it spread?

Most people have mild influenza-like symptoms, such as (high) fever, dry cough and fatigue. Some people may have body aches, shortness of breath, muscle and bone pain, sore throat, headache, and tremors. In some cases, diarrhea (stomach upset) may also occur. The disease is more debilitating in older people than in younger ones. The effects of this disease are very rare in children up to 9 years of age. People, who already have diabetes, heart disease, lung disease or who have low immunity, have more severe symptoms. Twenty percent of people may have pneumonia or some other serious problem.

After sneezing-coughing, the infected person spreads the virus-infected drops from the mouth or nose. These can last a long time in different places. The virus can enter your body and lungs if you put your hand in your mouth or nose.

Is there anything I can do to protect myself and others from this disease?

Yes, of course. The virus spreads through the respiratory tract - meaning sneezing and coughing-infected droplets spread and stick here and there. From places that we occasionally touch, such as other people's hands, door handles or latches, railings, etc., the virus can get into your hands and then enter your mouth and lungs. Ways to avoid it? Wash your hands well. All the great videos are available on YouTube for this. Here is how doctors and nurses wash their hands. Before washing your hands, wash the part of the faucet that you hold the faucet open or close with soap. Now you can open / close the call repeatedly while washing your hands. This will greatly reduce water wastage.

If there is no soap or water, use an alcohol sanitizer. Avoid touching your face and nose as much as possible. Also avoid crowded places to avoid physical contact with people infected with the virus. Keeping this physical distance between people is called social distance. Keeping a distance of three to six feet is considered "safe". Do not shake hands. According to Indians, say namaskar or adab. This will maintain the physical distance.

    Coronavirus - Use Mask

Is it important to wear a mask when you leave home?

At present, according to the government instructions, wear a mask as soon as you leave home. If you have Covid-19, wearing a mask will protect others from the virus. However, the effectiveness of ordinary masks to protect oneself is less when visiting a Covid-19 patient. If the general public uses more N-95 masks, health workers and others who really need it will read less. So use plain or homemade masks.

What should I do if I have symptoms like fever or cough? Should I see a doctor or should I be different from everyone else?

Since there is no difference between the symptoms of Covid-19 and the common seasonal fever or influenza, having a fever and cough does not mean that you are infected with corona, there is no guarantee that you may have a common seasonal fever or influenza. However, if you suspect that you have coronary heart disease, you must first be on a 'self-quarantine', that is, in a specific room of the house or in a place where you will have as little contact with other people as possible, so that the disease spreads from you to someone else. Not spread. It should be observed as strictly as possible. Even those who will take care of you should not have any physical contact with you. Then report to your nearest health service or helpline and follow their advice.

Practice certain things to protect yourself and others. First, when coughing or sneezing, cover your nose and mouth with your elbows or with a handkerchief or tissue, and dispose of used tissue in a covered container. Also, wash your hands regularly and tell the people around you to do the same, rest, drink plenty of water and eat fruit to boost your immunity. If you have difficulty breathing, call the health helpline for advice. In general, do not go to the doctor without consulting, especially when your symptoms are mild. If you are infected with the coronavirus, the disease can spread to other people, including your doctor, without your knowledge.

    Quarantined - Stay at Home

What is 'quarantined'? What does this mean?

There are usually two types of quarantine.

In one, you will be kept in a government-designated place or house, so that other healthy people will almost never be able to communicate with you. This is usually done in people who are at high risk of contracting the disease, such as if you have early signs of corona in your body or if you have come in contact with someone who has corona. But keep in mind that government policy may change from time to time.

On the other hand, if you come close to a person who is later tested for corona, you may be asked to be 'self-quarantined'. This means you have to stay in a certain room of the house or in a place where you have as little contact with other people as possible.

During quarantine, special care will be taken to minimize physical contact with everyone else. The health department will always look at the good and bad of your body, and if your corona test results are negative at the end of this quarantine, you will be released from the quorum as corona-free. Usually this quarantine is two weeks.

Is there anything to be afraid of?

There is nothing to fear in quarantine. The kind of physical and social interaction we usually have can be a bit of a hassle to get off. But if the place of quarantine is well arranged, then you can definitely keep in touch with family and friends and keep all the news of the outside world. You will also be monitored for your nutritious food and other amenities so that you feel comfortable.

The rate of spread of the disease in the country is being monitored regularly and the rules of quarantine are also being evaluated. The government may later tighten the rules on who will be quarantined and who will not.

Can I have Covid-19 if I use products from China or eat meat and non-vegetarian foods?

No, not at all. Remember that this virus is spread from person to person through inhalation. The virus is not found in most of the animals around us. So, eating meat has nothing to do with being infected with the corona virus. Also, this type of virus does not survive long on light-air objects and cannot tolerate high temperatures. The virus will not survive in the time it takes for goods to reach India from China. So you can use Chinese products without any fear.

Where to find accurate, scientific and up-to-date information about coronavirus?

Accurate information can be found on the websites of the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States, and the European CDC. Information on the websites of prominent newspapers and news agencies such as the New York Times and the BBC is also credible. Several Indian newspapers have also reported on the coronavirus after verifying accurate information. However, it is wise to show the original source of the information in these cases, such as the website of the WHO or the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Government of India, where the current guidelines are given.

Government measures to stop the spread of COVID -19

The government and officials at every level of our public health system are following the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) very carefully. The Ministry of Health is monitoring the number of corona cases on a daily basis and instructing doctors / hospitals on how to keep patients in a separate place or how to treat them. Also, by canceling visas, the government has stopped people from entering the country from outside the country. Those suspected to have COVID-19 are being tested. Quarantine arrangements have been made in many places. Under ideal circumstances, if someone suspects that he has COVID-19, then he should have a test system. However, it has not been possible to arrange so many tests yet.

It depends on what will be happened in the near future. If the "group transmission" or "community transmission" of the corona virus started, so many people would be infected that our country's health services would collapse. So it is very important to maintain physical distance at this moment, use self-quarantine, find corona sufferers and monitor those who may come in contact with corona symptoms.

    Conclusion

If you are under 60 years of age and do not have any pre-existing illness, you may not realize that you have Covid-19. However, if you are older, or if your immune system is weakened by other illnesses, keep a physical distance from others (even family members) for now and keep an eye on your own health.

Coronavirus, pandemic COVID - 19, washing hands

However, people of all ages should maintain physical distance or follow the instructions to wash their hands frequently. If you know someone has Covid-19, stay away from them until they recover. If you think you are infected with the corona virus, contact the Covid-19 hotline number.
