Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was born at Portland. He began to publish poetry when he was only thirteen years old. After studying in Bowdoin College, he travelled abroad to make himself able for the work of a professor of modern languages at his college. He resigned the professorship in 1854in order to devote himself entirely for poetry. He died on March 24, 1882.
However, published in “Birds of Passage: Flight the First (1858), ‘Daybreak’ is a poem on Nature and how dawn appears in Nature. This lyric poem shows what activities start at dawn and how do they influence the human society at large.
