    Burdwan, 25 Dec, 2021: No blood donation camp has been organized in Memari town of East-Burdwan district in the last three months during the lockdown. However, blood is needed to treat a number of complex diseases, including thalassemia.

    Most of the blood banks run with empty stocks of blood. And so the primary teachers of the area came forward to meet the blood crisis in Memari Town. Honorable teachers of the town donated blood on the initiative of Memari Abhijan Sangha. Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan and leaders were present at the camp to encourage blood donors.

    Bishwaroop Ghosh, president of Memari Abhijan Sangha, said, "We have organized a blood donation camp in the local area in collaboration with MLA Narayan Biswas after learning about the blood problem as there is no camp for lockdown.

    "There, 46 people, including 13 teachers, donated blood. Narayan Biswas said, 'I would like to thank all the teachers who came forward to donate blood today. If more people come forward to donate their blood, it will be much easier to deal with the blood crisis in the state.” he also added.

    Today, in this camp there present Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, Swapan Bisayee, the local municipal chairman, Shri RK Jain, General Secretary of Indian Red Cross Society, Shri Shyam Jaju, Social Worker and some other notable persons. (226 words)

    Kalna, 29 Dec, 2021: “To donate a drop of blood means to give a life.” Blood is needed to treat a number of complex diseases, including thalassemia. But, no blood donation camp has been organized in the local area of East-Burdwan district in the last three months during the lockdown. 

    So the primary teachers of the area came forward to meet the blood crisis in Kalna town. Teachers donated blood in Kalna town on the initiative of Janakalyan Samiti. Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan and leaders were present at the camp to encourage blood donors.

    Swapan Adhikari, president of Kalna Janakalyan Samiti, said, "We have organized a blood donation camp in the local area in collaboration with MLA Kamalesh Sarkar after learning about the blood problem as there is no camp for lockdown.

    "There, 28 people, including 15 teachers, donated blood. Swapan Adhikari said, 'I would like to thank all the teachers who came forward to donate blood today. If more people come forward to donate their blood, it will be much easier to deal with the blood crisis in the state.” he also added.

    Today, in this camp there present Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, Kartik Haldar, the local municipal chairman, Shri RK Jain, General Secretary of Indian Red Cross Society, Shri Shyam Jaju, Social Worker and some other notable persons.

    Calling on all to come forward for blood donation, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan advised them to stand by each other. Encouraging voluntary blood donors, he said, saving lives is a big aspect of humanity. Any healthy person can donate blood till the age of 65 years.

    He also added that “if you donate blood four times a year, you can stay healthy.” “By donating blood, blood donors can also stay healthy in many ways. Donating blood reduces the risk of heart attack, as well as regulates blood pressure and lowers cholesterol levels.” He said.

    The local municipal chairman said that lockdown restrictions have been imposed across the country to curb the death-defying virus, so he advised everyone to abide by these restrictions. He said, “In our district there are enough hospitals, PPEs, N-95 masks, ventilators and medicines in stock to control the virus.”

    He finally thanked all those who volunteered to donate blood at today's blood donation camp. He said that so far 200 volunteers have registered for blood donation and many more will do so. He visited every house and encouraged the blood donors. Among the blood donors were several policemen. (420 words)
