Q. Comment briefly on two major approaches to problem solving.

Answer: In our daily life, we deal with problems either it is in our working field or when we are in our household area. We have to face different kinds of problems. But, we don’t stay still without solving these problems anyhow. And the methods we observed to solve these problems are multi approaches. However, there are two major approaches to problem-solving among various approaches, notably, analytical approach, creative approach, collaborative approach, design thinking approach etc.

In this article we are going to discuss about two major approaches to problem-solving. First of all we’ll discuss Analytical Approach and then Creative approach.

Analytical Approach:

The analytical approach to problem- solving is a usual strategy. Analytical approach relies on breaking down complex problems into inferior and makes the problems more manageable factors. It emphasizes a methodical examination of the problem and identifies the main causes and develops applicable results. There are some important features of the analytical approach

(i) The analytical approach places a strong emphasis on understanding the problem entirely. This involves gathering relevant data, examining patterns and relations, and relating the main factors which are responsible to the problem.

(ii) Analytical approach usually makes use of logical analysis. It makes a reasonable opinion and substitute conclusion using the realistic logic. It uses ways to make a conclusion depending on an existing proof and information.

Analytical approach is a structural process or frame that follows the problem-solving methods. It includes many theories like data collection, thesis expression and evaluation and also the minute examination of the problems. In the examples of structural process, there includes scientific analysis and DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) approach which are used in Six Sigma.

Analytical approaches primarily calculate data and evidence to support their decision. They gather and analyze relevant data and perform statistical analyses. Finally, they represent conclusions on the basis of experimental evidences. This approach helps in minimizing personal inclination and making objective opinions.

Creative Approach:

The creative approach highlights innovative and unconventional solutions to the arisen problem. It encourages individuals to explore different perspectives. The creative approach challenges assumption, and come up to problems from a clear point of view to solve the problem. The creative approaches also have some special features very much like Analytical Approach.

(i) Different thinking: Creative approaches connect in different thinking to break the problem. They involve generating a wide range of ideas and possibilities. They encourage brain to suppose over the critical problems and make our brain stress free union. So, they produce a close examination of cover explanations. The main focus of Creative approaches is on magnitude and diversity. They don't bother about evaluation or redundancy of similar ideas.

(ii) Perception and judgment: Creative approaches frequently calculate on perception and judgment to resolve the critical circumstances. They trust their natures and influences to make connections among different problematic situation. Creative approaches also reveal original explanation that may not be readily distinguishable through logical analysis alone.

(iii) Flexible view: The creative approach encourages a flexible view which is open to new ideas and observation. Those who are willing to challenge the delicate proposal, take disadvantage. In this point they often embrace uncertainty to solve the problem. Hence, they constantly find out different points of view and unite with others to look after certain discovery.

(iv) Iterative process: Creative approach is frequently a habitual process to resolve the problem. In this process Creative approaches try to make the ideas perfect through trial and feedback. It acknowledges the result first that may not be the best. The iterative process, therefore, encourages continuous modification to come at the best possible results.

However, to summarize the whole article, it can be mentioned that these two approaches are not mutually exclusive. The certain elements from both can often lead to more comprehensive problem-solving strategies. On the one hand, analytical approach provides a structured and systematic foundation to deal with complex problems, while creative approach adds a layer of innovation and originality to the process. The persons, who solve the problem successfully, often try to balance between analytical and creative approaches. Finally, in doing so, they adapt their strategies based on the nature of the problem at hand.
