Homemade soap with coconut oil and some small ingredients!

You can make your own fun scientific experiments with some very simple ingredients. And you don't need a laboratory to do this; your own kitchen is enough! Make homemade soap with coconut oil and some small ingredients!

    Principles of making soap

Making soap requires two basic things, oil and alkali. Here we will use pure coconut oil. You don't have to buy brand oil at a higher price from the store; you can get cheap but pure coconut oil. Usually 5-6 types of oils or fats are used in commercial soaps but coconut oil is enough for you. Another important ingredient is NaOH (Sodium hydroxide). It can be a little hard to find, but you can find it by looking at hardware or paint stores. And yes, just like any other fun experiment

However, do not make this soap in front of your children, not with them. If you are a little careless, accidents can be happened. Moreover, since there is a matter of chemical reactions, one has to be careful about measuring the ingredients.

    What do you need?

    Ingredients of making soap:

935.5 gm Coconut Oil - 137 gm Alkali - 355.5 gm Water - 15 gm Essential Oil (Wish) - Color (Wish) Accessories Ingredients: - Rice Cooker - Oven - Saucepan - Digital Scale - Thermometer - Glass Measuring Cup - Glass Bowl (for mixing) - Long-handled plastic spoon - Soap mold (Oven bread mold will work with steel mold) - Parchment paper for mold - Sharp knife - Rubber gloves, goggles, apron and long sleeves for safety - Large bowl filled with vinegar (If for any reason alkali gets stuck in the hand, it should be dipped in it immediately, then it should be washed with ordinary soap)

    Process for making soap:

    Process of making 'Soap'

    1) Turn the rice cooker on low heat and measure the ingredients.

    2) Take water in a glass bowl and take it out (in an open place like porch, roof or garden). Bring a spoon with alkali and a long handle. Wear gloves, goggles, masks and aprons at this time. Do not mix alkali with water very slowly. This mixture will heat up and smoke will rise. Make sure that the smoke does not get into the lungs. Mix alkali with water in the pot; do not mix water with alkali. Allow the mixture to cool for 5-10 minutes.

    3) Heat coconut oil in a saucepan till 120-130 Fahrenheit. Check with a thermometer to see if it has warmed up properly. Then pour the melted coconut oil into your rice cooker.

    (4) Carefully add the alkali mixture to the rice cooker and keep stirring. Once a creamy and thick mixture is formed, cover and simmer. As the milk swells, so does the mixture, which swells on the body of the pot and then settles on the inside again. It may take about 45 minutes to get ready.

    5) When do you realize it is ready? When you look at it, it will become semi-transparent like Vaseline. You can see by rubbing it with your little finger, if it looks like wax, you will understand. And if it irritates your hands a little, you will understand that there is still alkali left in it and you have to heat it a little more.

    6) If you want to add essential oil and color, then add the mixture after it cools down a bit. If you want, you can mix various herbal products, rose petals, neem leaves etc. in it.

    6) Pour this mixture in the middle of the mold. You can keep it in the fridge for best results. However, if kept for a long time, it will harden and will not be cut. So in a few hours, when the sticky feeling is removed, cut it into pieces.

    6) Leave it in a ventilated place so that it dries well. Then you can use as you wish. It can be used for a year if stored in a dry and cool place.
