Tori Bowie, American track and field athlete
Tori Bowie was an American track and field sprinter. She specialized in the 100 meters and 200 meters, and was the 2016 Olympic silver medalist in the 100 meters and the 2017 world champion in the 100 meters. She also won gold medals in the 4x100 meters relay at the 2016 Olympics and 2017 World Championships.
Tori Bowie: Birth & Career
Bowie was born in Camden, Arkansas, in 1990. She began her track and field career as a long jumper, but switched to sprinting in 2014. She quickly made an impact on the sprinting scene, winning the 100 meters at the 2014 USA Indoor Championships and the 2014 NACAC Under-23 Championships.
In 2016, Bowie had a breakout season. She won the 100 meters at the USA Outdoor Championships, and went on to win the silver medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She also won a gold medal in the 4x100 meters relay.
In 2017, Bowie's dominance in sprinting persisted.. She won the 100 meters at the World Championships in London, becoming the first American woman to win the world title in the 100 meters since Florence Griffith-Joyner in 1991. She also won a silver medal in the 200 meters at the World Championships.
Bowie retired from track and field in 2019. She is a two-time Olympic medalist and a world champion. She is considered one of the greatest female sprinters of all time.

Tori Bowie passed away in May 2023 at the age of 32 due to complications from childbirth. At the time of her demise, she was in her Florida home, eight months pregnant and experiencing labor pains. Her unborn child did not survive.
Bowie was a three-time Olympic medalist and a world champion. She was considered one of the greatest female sprinters of all time. Her death was a shock to the track and field world and to her fans around the world.

A memorial service for Bowie was held in her hometown of Camden, Arkansas, on June 11, 2023. The service was attended by hundreds of people, including her family, friends, and fellow track and field athletes.
