She was soft-spoken, calm, humble, but truly the ‘Empress of Melody’. Lata Mangeshkar was born on September 28, 1929 in Indore, a city of Madhya Pradesh. The name given by the parents is Hema Mangeshkar. Lata's father Pandit Dinnath Mangeshkar was a famous classical musician and stage actor. Her mother was Shevanti Devi.

Her voice moves our every emotion. Her voice was like medicine to fulfill the love and desire of human heart. There was joy and sorrow in every one of her creations.

Even in the digital age, she is immortal in the world of music. Even today, music lovers roam in search of her many old and rare records. She has sung in almost every language of India. She was in the heart of every human being. Even today there is no substitute for the patriotic songs she sings on any proud day of the country. Every word of the song comes alive in her voice.

Speaking of 1963, the then Prime Minister Jaharlal Nehru was on the stage. Lata Mangeshkar stood in front of the microphone. Paying homage to the Indian soldiers, she said:

“Aye mere watan ke logo, tum khub laga lo nara…

zara ankhme bhar lo pani”

- These two lines are enough to bring tears to the eyes of every person in the country. A song of patriotism in Lata's voice directly touches the minds of the people. Even the former Prime Minister Jaharlal Nehru could not hold back his tears when he heard this song sung by Lata Mangeshkar!

In 2001, in her old age, she received the India's highest honor, the Bharat Ratna. Then in 2007, she was awarded the Legion of Honor, France's highest civilian honor.

Their family name was Haridkar. The Mangeshkars were priests of the Mangesh temple in Goa. Keeping in mind that bond, Dinanath Haridkar changed their title to Mangeshkar.

Lata Mangeshkar is the eldest of four children. 5 year old Lata picked up Tanpura and indulged in the hard rage like Puria Dhaneshri. At the age of seven, Lata sang on stage with her father and also acted as a teenager. This was followed by the opportunity to sing in a solo classical music program. Lata was then a nine-year-old girl.

The first opportunity to sing in Hindi came in 1943 in the Marathi film, Gajaabhaau (Mata Ek Sapoot Ki Duniya Badal De Tu). Lata Mangeshkar set foot in Bombay with Master Binayak in 1945. Then she did not have to look back. One by one his impeccable creation took place in the jewel of man. Many people think that Saraswati herself was captured as a vine in the world.

Yesterday was Saraswati Puja. The Goddess of Education, Saraswati has not been given a float yet. But the human Saraswati, Lata Mageshkar said goodbye to the countrymen leaving alone before that. Empress Lata Mangeshkar's funeral was held at Shivaji Park in Mumbai. Her family members were present there.
