Frederic Fenimore Forrest Jr. was an American actor. He was known for his roles in the films Apocalypse Now (1979), The Rose (1979), Falling Down (1993), and Lonesome Dove (1989). His birth took place in Waxahachie, Texas, United States, on December 23, 1936.

Forrest began his acting career in the early 1960s, appearing in off-Broadway productions of Viet Rock (a folk war movie) and Futz (a one-act play) and television shows. He made his film debut in 1972 in the “Western film When the Legends Die” (1963l). His performance in the film earned him a Golden Globe nomination for Most Promising Newcomer. He went on to appear in over 70 films and television shows.

In 1979, Forrest starred as Chef in the war film Apocalypse Now. His performance in the film was critically acclaimed, and he was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Forrest continued to work steadily throughout the 1980s and 1990s, appearing in films such as The Rose, Falling Down, Hammett, and Citizen Cohn. He also had a recurring role on the television series 21 Jump Street.
