Merits and Demerits of Online Classes

Advantages and Disadvantages of Online Classes

Nowadays throughout the world, the internet has become an integral part of all walks of life, and in the wake of the global Corona epidemic, students have become increasingly dependent on the Internet as they are unable to learn directly from their teachers.

    Merits/Advantage of Online Classes

The advantages they are facing due to the availability of internet are-

    1. Easy communication with teachers

    2. Any necessary book can be bought through internet or pdf can be downloaded.

    3. At present, students are not only dependent on class teachers, various online educational institutions have brought a new horizon of education in front of the them too.

    4. Candidates can solve their various problems from Google or YouTube if they wish.

    5. Preparation reaches another height through readily available mock test.

    6. Through various means they get the news about the test in a blink of an eye and can prepare accordingly.

    7. We know that not only the student-teacher relationship but also the inter-student relationship plays a huge role in education. And through the internet, students can solve various difficult issues by discussing among themselves.

Demerits / Disadvantages of Online Classes

But we know that there are two sides to any issue if there is a problem with a subject, its solution is also called a good thing, but there are also many bad aspects on the contrary.

In the same way, although there are many advantages in studying online, many examinees have shown bad results in the exam.

Secondary and higher secondary examinees are usually in puberty and naturally their focus is less and they become very sensitive about any subject online and the main subject i.e. study becomes secondary. Here are some examples of disadvantages of online classes:

    1. Social media currently has a large segment of online users and has been noticed to have a huge impact on the society. Naturally its lethal effect has come on the students. It has been observed that students who are involved in social media, in most cases, become addicted to it and after spending a lot of time on social media, their studies fade away in many cases.

    2. Another huge addictive aspect is also exposed to the students through online- and the name of this toxic medium is online games. There are many types of online games on different smartphones and these games are so addictive, not only in terms of reading, users become ignorant in every aspect of life, and become socially isolated. According to psychologists, this antisocialism creates a huge void in studies and as a result, students suffer from depression and the present generation in the face of terrible consequences as a result.

    3. Even if no student uses the above subjects, the number of online classes is increasing day by day Teachers of different subjects are doing one class online after another. Not only school but also tuition classes of different teachers are being read online by the students.  Unknowingly, a killing force is attacking them. The most important part of student learning is concentration. Unfortunately, one of the terrible consequences of staying online for a long time is the loss of concentration. On the eve of Corona, not only the examinees but everyone realized their lack of concentration because online screen time has increased a lot for everyone.

    Precautions for the Online Classes

Thinking about the impact of so many difficulties, students and parents naturally become anxious. But nowadays, it is almost impossible to prepare for secondary and higher secondary exams without online. So, with some precautions, students can prevent the influence of online monsters on themselves as much as possible.

    1. Currently, students are not satisfied with one and only teacher. They are willing to learn from multiple teachers in multiple subjects and in some cases for the same subject.  But is it really convenient at all? In this case, the examinees use many teachers only to imitate the society without feeling their need. And especially through online, there is no need for more than one teacher, by joining a specific educational institution, class time is greatly reduced and students can complete their education in a very short time online.

    2. High school students need to keep themselves away from social media as much as possible. There are two main ways of doing this, if the examinee has enough personality, it is controlled even if he uses social media, but in most cases it does not happen and the students sink under the social media as a result of arbitrary use. Therefore, it is better for high school students not to use social media excessively.

    3. The use of social media, although limited, in the case of online games, this task is quite difficult. Students become addicted without knowing it therefore, according to the first advice, the examinees should stay away from online games and secondly, if they play the game, they should play the brain game selected by certain experts.

    4. In addition, to the students, all the problems are solved if they can control the time of daily mobile use. This is why different electronic gadgets (mobile, laptop) have digital parental control. Note that in this case, a student uses an average of 13 hours of screen time, while the normal limit of screen time is only 2 hours!

In conclusion, so to say, in the atmosphere of modernity alone, the character of the student cannot be formed by imitating the floating society Education is a burden to students, even if it is socially acceptable, not only online but also in various aspects of life.
