If we talk about Mona Lisa, we have to talk about Leonardo da Vinci.

👉 Leonardo da Vinci and his career

Leonardo da Vinci (Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci) was born in the metropolitan city of Florence, Anchiano (Italy) on 15 April, 1452. His title was not Vinci, in fact his father's identity was not known, so his title was named after the city where he was born.

He started his journey from a studio in Italy at the age of 14. Leonardo da Vinci was not only a legendary painter but also an engineer and musician. He blended science and art together. He used to say that science and art are complementary to each other. He used to interpret art through his drawings.

Leonardo da Vinci's time was a turning point in European history. Because at that time the Roman Empire was falling and the Ottoman Empire was rising, it is also called the Renaissance period. A painter and writer named Vasari published his book Lives of the Most Excellent Painters in 1550, from which Leonardo da Vinci and the Mona Lisa are known.

Leonardo da Vinci painted their portraits for various kings. In 1482 he went to Milan, where he painted many pictures for the Duke, notably The Last Supper. In 1499 there was a war between France and Italy. The King of France took Leonardo da Vinci with him. Finally, this legendary artist died on 2nd May, 1519.

Leonardo da Vinci began painting his immortal creation, the Mona Lisa, in 1503 and worked on it for 16 years until his death in 1519. This is why the Mona Lisa picture is still incomplete. Mona Lisa shows a woman smiling lightly. There was a lot of talk about who the woman was in this film. Many say it was made by Leonardo da Vinci imagining himself as a girl, while others say it was his mother's or beloved's. But finally, after much research, a letter was found in which it is written that in 1503, a famous French silk merchant, Francisco del Giocondo, requested Leonardo da Vinci to paint a portrait of his wife Lisa. This is the portrait.

👉 The theft of Mona Lisa's picture

Mona Lisa means My Lady in Italian. Since 1797, this picture has been kept in the Louvre Museum in France. French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte liked this picture so much that he kept it in his bedroom. This picture was stolen in 1911 and later recovered. Pablo Picasso, another great artist of the time, was suspected of stealing this picture. It was later discovered that it was stolen by an employee of the Louvre Museum, who was from Italy. He felt that the picture was a treasure of Italy, so he took it to the museum in Florence two years later. He was then arrested. He was jailed for six months, but was felicitated by the Italian government for his devotion to his country. Finally, in 1914, this picture was returned to the Louvre Museum.

To destroy this picture, acid was thrown at the picture, stones were pelted. For which this picture is kept in high security.

👉 Facts behind the drawing of Mena Lisa

Leonardo da Vinci used 40 different brushes to paint the Mona Lisa, each with bristles thinner than hair. This picture was drawn in Swammota method i.e. no outline is used in this picture. It is also said that Leonardo da Vinci drew some code in the eyes of Mona Lisa, which is also called the Da Vinci Code, and a movie has been made about this in Hollywood.

Mona Lisa's biggest secret is her smile. Mona Lisa's smile changes from different angles. From a distance, it can be understood that Mona Lisa is smiling, but if we look closely, we can see that Mona Lisa's lips are leaning slightly downwards, which makes it seem that Mona Lisa is sad.

A group of researchers from the Netherlands have found that Mona Lisa was painted by Leonardo da Vinci in such a way that a girl's smile, sadness, pride and fear are revealed at the same time. In the year 2000 AD, Dr. Margaret, a neurologist at Harvard University, said that Mona Lisa's smile does not change, but people's minds change.

Leonardo da Vinci is said to have painted two Mona Lisas, but there is no evidence of this. The woman in the Mona Lisa has no eyebrows, a researcher named Pascal Cotti examined the image under high light and showed that Leonardo da Vinci had painted eyebrows, but over five hundred years the eyebrows had gradually grown.

Seeing this picture, many people say half woman, half man idol. Now-a-days, in advanced mobiles images are customized with the help of various apps. But five hundred years ago, Leonardo da Vinci fully demonstrated with the help of a brush how an environment can affect people. No one knows where this picture was painted, but most researchers believe it was painted in Florence. A very good examination revealed several letters in and around the eyes of this image. Placed side by side, it reads La Risposta Si Trova Qui in Italian meaning Here lies the answer” in English
