Rugby Championship, 2023 | Match Schedule
The Rugby Championship is an annual international rugby union competition contested by the four highest-ranked national teams in the Southern Hemisphere: Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. It is commonly known as the "Four Nations" or alternatively, "The Big Four."
The tournament was first held in 1996 as the Tri Nations, with Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa as the participating teams. Argentina joined the competition in 2012, and the tournament was renamed the Rugby Championship.
The Rugby Championship is played on a round-robin format, with each team playing the others once. The champion is declared at the end of the tournament based on the team that accumulates the highest number of points.
New Zealand is the most successful team in the Rugby Championship, having won 19 titles. Australia has won 12 titles, South Africa has won 10 titles, and Argentina has won 1 title.
The 2023 Rugby Championship will be held from 8 July to 17 September. The matches will be played in Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. The opening match will be between Argentina and Australia in Mendoza, Argentina.
