Answer:

A Brahmin and His Goat

Once upon a time there lived a Brahmin in a village. He was a man of simple living. So he did not talk with others unnecessarily.

Naturally, he was unaware of the fact that all men are not as innocent as he was. However, one day he bought a goat from the market with a view to look after it and find in the animal a friend with whom he could share all his feelings.

Out of affection for this timid creature he was carrying him on his shoulder towards his home.

On his away three knaves were sitting and they saw this and thought of getting the goat from him. But it was not easy to befool a man so easily. They sat down at some distance from one another so that they can impress the Brahmin with their talks at different times.

When the Brahmin reached near the first man, the later asked, “Why are you carrying a dog on your shoulder? Don’t you know that the beast is born to work? Have you become mad? Leave it on the road; Otherwise people will laugh at you foolishness.” The Brahmin found no truth in the words of the man and so rebuked him for his gross mistake saying, “Have you lost your eyesight? This is not a goat. This is a street dog. Anyone can recognize it as soon as they see it.

Then when Brahmin went a little further, the second thug tried to confuse him by saying the same thing.  This time the Brahmin became a little suspicious about his own power of judgment. He said to himself, two men cannot make the same mistake. But this time the Brahmin examined the beast doubtfully.

However, in an undecided mind as the Brahmin advanced a little more, the third knave repeated the same question.

This time the Brahmin became sure that he was making a mistake and that he was indeed getting a dog on his soldier. So at once he threw down the goat and went away towards his home in a sad frame of mind.

Moral: A dishonest person can never cheat if you have confidence upon yourself.
